2020 was an exceptional time for the meetings industry. The congresses, conferences and other events planned many years in advance were cancelled or postponed – say the authors of the recently published report “Meetings industry in Kraków 2020”. However, although all the numbers have decreased drastically, the capital of Małopolska has not stopped its stride.
In 2020, only 1 919 meetings with 318 366 participants were held in Kraków. For comparison, as many as 8 400 events with 1 210 263 participants took place in 2019. As
many as 50% meetings were online. The authors of the report emphasize the high flexibility and adaptability of the industry, which was adapting to new realities. The key
role of the Kraków Network protocol, which is to promote the associated entities and the city as ready for safe and effective organization of events, including hybrid and
online events, was indicated. The report “Meetings industry in Kraków 2020” indicates the prestigious awards won by Krakow: a place in the group of “European cities of the future: 5th place in the competition for the title of “European Green Capital 2022”, 14th place among the world places to visit by the newspaper “The New York Times”, 10th place among Trending Destinations, 1st place in the “Belgian Tourist Awards”, or 25th place on the list of the Best Cities in the World, which are worth visiting according to readers of “Travel + Leisure”.
