New carriers, new connections
On 7 May 2020, American Airlines will offer a connection to Chicago scheduled fives times per week. From 29 March 2020, Air France will fly daily to Paris #FLYKRK. The new countries added to the Kraków Airport’s flight network will be Albania (charter flights) and Montenegro (regular flights). Furthermore, Wizz Air will offer flights to London, Zaporizhia, Barcelona, Milan, Trondheim, Haugesund, Stavanger, Bergen, Bologna, Tromso and Verona. Ryanair will fly to Podgorica. In 2020, 15 new #FLYKRK connections are expected. On 3 May 2020, PLL LOT will launch a new direct connection from Kraków to New York JFK. At the same time, this carrier will increase the weekly number of flights from Kraków to Chicago from 3 to 5.
Automated border control (ABC) gates at Kraków Airport
Kraków Airport will be equipped with 10 automated border control gates used for automated clearance of passengers who fly to and from the Schengen Area and who have biometric passports. It will improve passenger handling and facilitate airport services’ work. The purchase of automated border control gates will be funded by the Ministry of Interior and Administration at the request of the Małopolska Voivode Piotr Ćwik.
3rd edition of the ACI Customer Experience Global Summit in Kraków
During theACI Customer Experience Global Summit in September 2019 in Bali (Indonesia) ACI World officially announced that the next year’s event – i.e. the 3rd edition of the ACI Customer Experience Global Summit – scheduled for 7–10 September 2020 will be held in Kraków. Kraków Airport will host this prestigious conference. Every year, the event is attended by airport delegates from across the world. They engage in discussions about how to provide passengers with best solutions in terms of comfort and service quality within airports. In 2019, Angkasa Pura 1 in Bali (Indonesia) was the first host from the Asia-Pacific area. Next year, Kraków will become the first ever host in Europe.
Investments
At Kraków Airport, investment decisions are always based on in-depth, regularly updated air traffic analyses and forecasts. Priority is currently given to the new runway, which is also the most difficult project under way. Analyses will be conducted for a multi-discipline concept and a new cargo terminal construction project, as well as an initial concept and a multi-discipline concept for the passenger terminal extension. We will announce tenders for the construction of a new office building, expansion of the apron in the western section of the airport and a reconstruction of the internal transport system.
