“Norma”, the masterpiece composed by Vincenzo Bellini, is considered “the perfect opera”. The title character is a Galician high priestess living at the time of the Roman invasion. The work tells a story of an inner conflict between her love towards a member of the enemy army and the sense of obligation towards her own community, where fight between feelings and duty gains a universal dimension. The part of Norma is regarded as one of the most difficult opera soprano parts, and the performers frequently call it “a murderer of sopranos”. The performance is directed by Laco Adamik and the title part will be sung by Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha. Further spectacles will be presented on October 28, 29 and 31, 2017. opera.krakow.pl
