Next to Thamel, the bustling tourist centre of Kathmandu, one can find a mural showing a couple of working elderly people dressed in traditional outfits – a sight not uncommon in Nepal.

In this country, graffiti is legal and therefore it is possible to admire street art created by local artists even on main streets of the capital. Interestingly, when visiting richer districts of Kathmandu, it is possible to come across handicrafts workshops. People from lower castes working there, offer their products to their richer neighbours. The picture on the next page presents hand weaving of saris.
